Frequently Asked Questions

Q:    What do you do on a Trail ride?
A:
Our Trail rides are guided rides on horseback, walking through a variety of trails, including  wooded areas, sand, over streams and
around a pond. A Trail Ride is meant to be a relaxing walk on horseback to enjoy nature. You may even see a deer or two along the way.

Q:    Is there an age requirement?
A:
Children must be 7 years or older and at least 48 inches tall.

Q:    Is there a weight limit?
A:
Yes, we have a weight limit of no more than 250 pounds.

(all riders should be physically able to control their horse)

Q:    What should I wear?
A:
You should wear comfortable weather appropriate clothing, long pants, sturdy footwear, sneakers are fine (no open toe shoes, flip flops
or sandals). A limited number of helmets are available, you may use your own riding or bicycle helmet if you prefer. Helmets are not
required but are always recommended. You will be riding through wooded areas, so bug spray is always a good idea.

Q:    I have never been on a horse before, can I still ride?
A:
Yes you can. We have many first time riders. Our Guides are experienced riders and are there to assist you. Just follow the simple
instructions that will be given to you, and you should do just fine. If at any time during your ride you have a question, feel free to ask
any of the Guides and they will try to assist you.

Q:    What if my child is unable to control their horse?
A:
If any person is unsure about being able to control their horse, a lead rope can be made available. A lead rope is simply a rope that is held
by a Trail Guide and tied to your horse. This will give your Guide
limited control and help you keep your horse moving with the group.
Please let us know when you make your reservation if you think you may need a lead rope available. This will insure that Guides are
available.

Q:    I have been riding for a while. Do you offer anything more advanced?
A:
For our more advanced riders we do offer a Trot Ride. The Trot is a little faster than a Walk. This ride is meant for those who have been
on the walk rides before, are very comfortable on a horse and now want to move up to the next level. Trot Rides are offered on every
ride, listen for instructions and you will be directed on how to separate from our Walk. ( If you have never been on a horse before, you
should stay with the Walk ride).

Q:    Do you offer Canter Rides?
A:
We will have Canter rides for experienced riders. (Canter is faster that a Trot) We do not offer this ride as our Standard Option (Walk or
Trot), since it is for Experienced Riders Only. Please ask when you arrive, and we will try to accommodate your request.

Q:    How do I know if I am ready for a more advanced ride?
A:
Our Guides will evaluate all riders who choose to take the more advanced rides. If they feel you are unable to continue at that level, they
will move you down to a level that is better suited to your ability.

Q:    Why do I have to ride single file?
A:
We ride single file to maintain control and safety of all our riders. You are riding a living animal, not a machine that you can just turn on
and off. Our horses are used to following the horse in front of them. If you ride side by side, some of the horses my become competitive
with each other. We travel through conservation land that is open to the public and we share the trails with others. For your safety and
the safety of everyone around you, we prefer that you keep you horse single file with about one horse length from the horse in
front of you. If the horse in front of you stops, then you should stop your horse. (Try not to pass any horses)
